The short version

A photography studio uses SnapSelf to share photographs from an event you attended. If you take a selfie, we compare it against the faces in those photographs so we can show you the ones you appear in. You can have everything about you deleted at any time, from the gallery itself, and it is gone within 24 hours.

What we store about a guest

  • The name and contact detail you type when you open an event link.
  • A mathematical summary of your face, used only to compare against that one event. Your selfie itself is not kept after the comparison.
  • The list of photographs you matched, so your gallery keeps working.
  • A record that you consented, and when.

The face summary cannot be turned back into a picture of you. It is used for one event and nothing else. It is never sold, never shared with another studio, and never used to identify you anywhere outside the event you joined.

How long it is kept

  • Your face summary is deleted once the studio finishes delivering the event, and in every case within 90 days.
  • Your gallery, the list of photographs you matched, stays available for as long as the studio keeps the event.
  • Original camera files are kept for the period in the studio's plan. Display copies large enough for ordinary prints are kept alongside them.

Deleting your data

Open your gallery and choose "Delete my data". That removes your face summary, your match list and your contact details within 24 hours. You do not need to write to anyone or prove who you are beyond holding the link.

If you appear in a photograph on a studio's public portfolio, every image there carries a way to ask for it to come down. The photograph is hidden immediately, before anyone reviews the request.

Where your data is stored

Photographs, face summaries and all account data are stored on servers in the European Union, operated by Hetzner in Germany and Finland. Nothing is stored in the United States. Backups stay in the same region.

We say this plainly because it matters: European hosting means the data sits under the GDPR regardless of where you or the studio are.

Who can see your photographs

The studio that took them, and whoever the event's owner allows. By default a guest sees only the photographs they appear in. Access to a full album is granted by the event owner, usually the couple, not by us and not automatically by the studio.

Studio staff do not see guest email addresses or phone numbers unless the event owner turns that on, and every time it is turned on we record it.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not use your face to train a model.
  • We do not match your face across events or across studios.
  • We do not add you to a studio's marketing list. If a studio contacts you about their availability, it is because you filled in their enquiry form yourself.

Studios and their clients

The studio decides what to photograph and who to share it with, and is the controller of that material. SnapSelf processes it on their instructions. If you want a photograph removed from an event, ask the studio; if you want your own data removed from SnapSelf, use the gallery and it is done without them.

Children

Children appear in wedding photographs, and we do not pretend otherwise. We do not knowingly create a face summary for anyone who has not taken a selfie themselves, and a parent or guardian can ask for any material involving their child to be removed.
